Advertising & Listing Policy

This policy explains how business advertising works on All Trades Directory UK, the standards expected from advertisers and what visitors should understand about directory listings.

Last updated: August 2026

1. Purpose of the Directory

All Trades Directory UK is an independent advertising and information platform designed to help people discover tradespeople, contractors and specialist service providers throughout the United Kingdom.

Businesses can advertise their services through directory listings, dedicated business pages and enhanced advertising options where available.

2. Who Can Advertise?

The directory is intended for genuine businesses, sole traders, contractors, tradespeople and specialist service providers operating in the UK.

Suitable advertisers may include businesses working in areas such as:

Property & Construction

Builders, roofers, surfacing contractors, groundworkers, landscapers, driveway contractors, property improvement businesses and related trades.

Specialist Services

Commercial contractors, specialist maintenance providers, access services, drainage, plant-related services and other legitimate service businesses.

Other legitimate business categories may also be accepted where they fit the purpose of the directory.

3. Authority to Submit a Listing

Anyone submitting or purchasing a listing must be authorised to advertise the business concerned.

The advertiser must be the business owner, an authorised employee or representative, or otherwise have permission from the business to submit its information.

Listings must not impersonate another business or use another company's name, branding, photographs or contact details without permission.

4. Information Required for a Listing

Depending on the advertising package, a listing may include:

business name, trading name, description, services provided, service areas, photographs, logo, telephone number, email address, website link and other information relevant to the business.

Advertisers are responsible for providing sufficient information for us to create a useful and accurate listing.

5. Dedicated Business Pages

Some advertising packages include a dedicated page for the advertiser.

Dedicated pages are intended to provide visitors with more useful information than a simple name-and-number directory entry.

They may include information about services, locations covered, photographs, business details and a direct route to the advertiser's own website or contact details.

6. Editing & Formatting

All Trades Directory UK may reasonably edit, format, restructure or shorten information supplied by advertisers in order to improve readability, page layout, consistency and usability.

We may also resize or crop supplied photographs and logos where reasonably necessary for the website design.

We will not knowingly alter important factual information in a way that materially misrepresents the advertiser.

7. Accuracy of Claims

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that claims made within their advertising are truthful and can be supported where necessary.

This includes claims relating to:

qualifications, experience, professional memberships, accreditations, insurance, guarantees, service areas, years in business, awards, prices and specialist capabilities.

We may request clarification or evidence where a claim appears unusual, potentially misleading or important to customer safety.

8. Photographs, Logos & Copyright

Advertisers must have the right to use all photographs, logos, written descriptions, videos and other content they provide.

Content must not knowingly infringe another person's copyright, trademark or other intellectual-property rights.

9. Listings We May Refuse

All Trades Directory UK may refuse to publish an advertisement where there is a reasonable and legitimate concern about the business or the content supplied.

Examples may include listings that appear:

fraudulent, materially misleading, unauthorised, unlawful, impersonating another business, using stolen content, promoting prohibited services, or otherwise unsuitable for a UK trade and service directory.

10. Existing or Duplicate Businesses

Where a business already appears on the directory, we may merge, update or replace information rather than create unnecessary duplicate pages.

Duplicate listings may be removed where they provide no useful additional value to visitors.

11. Paid Listings

Prices and features for paid advertising are displayed on the relevant advertising page.

The advertiser should review the package description before purchasing.

Payment purchases the advertising service described. It does not purchase ownership of a webpage, directory category or position within Google or another search engine.

12. Featured & Sponsored Advertising

Featured or sponsored businesses may receive greater visibility than standard listings.

This may include enhanced design, prominent placement, additional links or positioning within relevant category or location pages.

Where advertising is sponsored or receives paid prominence, we may identify it appropriately where necessary.

13. No Guaranteed Position

Unless a specific fixed placement has been expressly included in an advertising package, page position may change over time.

Changes may result from new advertisers, website development, page redesign, relevance, location, category structure or other reasonable editorial considerations.

14. Search Engine Visibility

Public business pages may be accessible to search engines and may become indexed in Google, Bing or other search services.

Search engines independently decide whether a page is indexed, what queries it appears for and where it ranks. All Trades Directory UK therefore cannot guarantee indexing, rankings or a particular search position.

15. No Guarantee of Enquiries or Customers

Advertising provides an opportunity for additional exposure.

It does not guarantee website traffic, telephone calls, messages, quotations, leads, customers, contracts or revenue.

Performance will vary according to factors including location, service type, competition, demand, the information supplied and circumstances outside the control of All Trades Directory UK.

16. Customer Contact

Visitors normally contact advertisers directly using the telephone number, website, email address or other contact route displayed within the listing.

All Trades Directory UK is not normally involved in negotiating quotations or arranging the work.

17. Quotes, Contracts & Payments for Work

Any quotation, deposit, contract, payment or agreement relating to actual work is between the customer and the relevant business.

All Trades Directory UK is not responsible for collecting customer payments on behalf of listed contractors unless a specific service expressly states otherwise.

18. Inclusion Is Not an Endorsement

A business appearing on the directory should not automatically be interpreted as being personally recommended, inspected or approved by All Trades Directory UK.

Paid placement does not change this.

Customers remain responsible for deciding whether a business is suitable for their particular requirements.

19. Customer Due Diligence

Visitors should make appropriate checks before appointing a business.

Depending on the service involved, this may include obtaining written quotations, confirming identity, reviewing insurance, checking relevant qualifications or registrations, asking for references and ensuring both parties understand the scope and cost of the work.

20. Complaints About an Advertiser

If a visitor believes a listing contains seriously inaccurate, fraudulent or misleading information, they may report the listing to us.

We may review information provided by both parties and take action where we believe there is a reasonable basis to do so.

All Trades Directory UK is not a formal dispute-resolution body and cannot normally determine contractual or workmanship disputes between customers and contractors.

21. Suspension or Removal

Listings may be suspended or removed where there is a reasonable and legitimate concern about fraud, impersonation, unlawful activity, serious misleading information, intellectual-property infringement or misuse of the directory.

We may contact the advertiser for clarification before taking action where circumstances allow.

22. Changes During an Advertising Period

Advertisers should notify us if important information changes, particularly telephone numbers, websites, business names, locations or services offered.

Reasonable updates may be made to an active listing.

Significant redesign work or creation of substantially new content may fall outside the original advertising package and may require separate agreement.

23. Advertising Expiry & Renewal

Paid advertising remains active for the period included in the purchased package.

Renewal may be offered before or after expiry.

Advertising does not automatically renew unless this was clearly stated and agreed when the service was purchased.

24. Refunds

Refunds are considered according to the circumstances, the work already completed and applicable legal rights.

If we decline a genuine paid advertisement before the purchased advertising service has been provided, an appropriate refund would normally be made.

Where advertising is removed because the advertiser deliberately supplied fraudulent, false, materially misleading or unauthorised information, a refund may not normally be available to the extent permitted by law.

25. Editorial Independence

Paying for a business listing does not give an advertiser control over independent informational or editorial content appearing elsewhere on All Trades Directory UK.

Advertising arrangements will not require us to publish misleading information or remove legitimate information simply because an advertiser disagrees with it.

26. Changes to This Policy

This advertising policy may be updated from time to time as the directory, advertising packages or legal requirements change.

The latest version will be published on this page.
